Real Madrid on the Verge of Signing Silva

La Liga leaders Real Madrid have confirmed that they've reached an agreement with Liga Do Brazil team Cruzeiro for Brazil under 21 international Lucas Silva.

The 21 year old will join the European Champions on a contract that will see him at the Bernabeu until 2020 and the fee is a reported €14 million (£10.5 million).

He will complete his medical in the coming days and be presented to the fans on Monday.

Silva had been linked with a number of clubs including Arsenal, but none more so than Real Madrid, who have been trying to fill the gap left in midfield by Xabi Alonso after he moved to Bayern Munich.

Silva has made 58 appearances for Cruzeiro, scoring three times and winning league titles in 2013 and 2014.

Real Madrid have now signed two players in this window, with Los Blancos confirming the signing of Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset.

The Norwegian wonderkid has been likened to Lionel Messi and has earned three appearances for Norway at just 16 year-old.

Despite the signing of Lucas Silva Real Madrid claim that Illarramendi is going nowhere. The Spanish midfielder has been out of favour at Real this season and has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
