Hope for Reading

Hope Akpan and Danny Guthrie have been passed fit for Reading when they host Sheffield Wednesday.

Akpan suffered a shin injury during last weekend's 3-0 win at Millwall but has resumed training and will be available.

Fellow midfielder Guthrie is also fit after a month out with a calf problem and will probably be on the bench with manager Nigel Adkins set to name an unchanged team for the sixth match in succession.

Wayne Bridge and Sean Morrison (both knee) are due back this month but will not be risked just yet while Mikele Leigertwood (ankle), Jason Roberts (hip) and Jem Karacan (cruciate) are still missing.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without defender Oguchi Onyewu while Reda Johnson and Glenn Loovens face fitness tests.

Onyewu has suffered a tear to his calf muscle and faces several weeks on the sidelines while Johnson has missed the last four games due to a hip flexor problem and Loovens (hamstring) was absent for last week's win over Barnsley.

Midfielder Giles Coke sits out the second game of a three-match ban and winger Jermaine Johnson serves the first of his three-game suspension following his straight red card last week.

Another winger Michail Antonio (knee ligaments) is fit, but defender Martin Taylor (knee), Lewis Buxton (thigh), and Kamil Zayatte (ankle) are still missing, with the latter needing surgery that will end his season.
