Adkins assesses options

Reading boss Nigel Adkins will check on his walking wounded ahead of the home game against Middlesbrough.

Garath McCleary (back), Danny Williams (knee) and Jordan Obita (calf) were all patched up to play in Friday's 3-0 defeat by play-off rivals Wigan and are likely to be asked to go again.

Wayne Bridge could return but Danny Guthrie (calf) is set to miss out along with long-term absentee Jem Karacan (knee).

Mikele Leigertwood, just back to fitness after a year out with ankle problems, is available after a suspension.

Middlesbrough pair Daniel Ayala and Ben Gibson are back in contention.

Centre-half Ayala served his one-game ban during Saturday's home defeat to Millwall and boss Aitor Karanka must decide whether to recall him to the starting line-up or stick with replacement Kenneth Omeruo.

Gibson is hoping to return to action after serving a two-match ban and fit-again fellow defender George Friend is pushing for a recall after stepping off the bench against Millwall.

Seb Hines (thigh), Rhys Williams (Achilles) and Stuart Parnaby (knee) are all still struggling as Boro look to bounce back from their first defeat in six matches.
