Raheem Sterling transfer saga set to restart with opening Real Madrid salvo

The unsettled forward could soon have more options on the table with an initial bid from Real Madrid according to The Sun newspaper. The player has so far rejected a new deal from Liverpool and looks set to leave with several Premier League clubs as well as the La Liga giants all linked.

Real Madrid are reported as going in with a £45million offer for Sterling despite the fact that Liverpool have valued their player at £60million. According to a Real Madrid source who spoke to The Sun “A deal for Sterling is possible.” The report suggests that Liverpool may be persuaded to drop their valuation for a club outside of the Premier League if performance add-ons are included. The Liverpool bosses will be in Spain on June 14th for a friendly ‘Legends’ match and it is thought the subject could be raised then.

Real Madrid are certainly interested in the player and with a Rafa Benitez connection the deal seems more likely than Liverpool selling to a potential rival in the Premier League. Manchester City and Arsenal have both been linked with the player who still has a further year remaining on his present contract but any deal seems a long way from reality from any party.

You would have to be concerned that the 20-year-old may find it difficult to break into the Real Madrid first team despite his versatility and this may well influence Sterling away from moving to La Liga just yet but that is just my view.
