Queens without injured quintet

Queen of the South are without Chris Mitchell (back), Paul Burns (knee), Mark Kerr (hamstring), Stephen McKenna (hip) and Michael Paton (hamstring) for their clash with Elgin.

Better news for the Doonhamers is the return of Chris Higgins from a ban and John Baird from injury.

Manager Jim McIntyre is looking for a more complete performance from his side.

He explained: "We were good going forward against Livingston but defensively we were poor and lost 4-3. Elgin have really good strikers in Craig Gunn and Shane Sutherland and we need to be good at both ends to get through."

Elgin welcome back one time Palmerston Park striker Dennis Wyness after injury and Matthew Cooper is free to play despite his red card against Stirling last weekend.

Manager Barry Wilson, who misses the injured Jamie Duff (knee) and Graham Bayne (groin), is looking for his men to score if they get on top of their Championship hosts.

Wilson said: "Queens are a good side who will be even more dangerous after losing last weekend.

"We were on top against Stirling but missed chances and paid the price. If we manage to get on top in this game we have to take advantage of it."
