Fernandes vows to stand by QPR
Chairman Tony Fernandes has vowed to stay at QPR even if the club are relegated from the Barclays Premier League.
Fernandes said that he would relinquish his ownership of the west London club should he fail to fix the problems that have seen Rangers plummet to the foot of the table.
Although QPR fans are happy with the level of investment Fernandes has put in to the club since he bought it in 2011, many are disappointed that he has chosen to invest it on sub-standard and over-paid players.
However, Fernandes said he would stay at the club regardless of what happens in the future.
Fernandes tweeted: "Fantastic response from QPR fans. Good chat with Harry. I'm a fighter so if fans want me to stay I stay whatever happens. End of subject. Thank you all."
Fernandes received a huge vote of confidence from Redknapp.
"It would be a big blow for this club if he ever left. I'm not just saying that because he's the chairman," Redknapp told a press conference.
"He's trying harder than anyone to put right what's gone wrong.
"His heart is in the right place and he loves the club. They (the fans) are fortunate to have a chairman like him."
Redknapp cast doubt on the transfer of Peter Odemwingie from West Brom following his Twitter rant at the Midlands club and their fans over the weekend.
"I don't know whether it will happen," Redknapp said after West Brom confirmed they had turned down a second bid from QPR for the striker.
"The whole situation has become a bit too public really hasn't it?"
Redknapp ruled out a move for West Brom defender Jonas Olsson and also said signing Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland was "impossible".
Defender Ryan Nelsen looks set to return for what could be his last QPR game.
Nelsen, who Toronto want to start work as their manager on Friday, and striker Loic Remy were both rested for Saturday's FA Cup defeat to MK Dons, but are likely to feature in the game against the champions at Loftus Road.
Junior Hoilett (hamstring), Shaun Wright-Phillips (knock) and Bobby Zamora (hip) are doubts, while Samba Diakite is at the African Nations Cup and long-term absentee Andrew Johnson (knee) remains sidelined.
Manchester City have central defensive concerns with captain Vincent Kompany ruled out with a calf injury.
Matija Nastasic (knee) is also doubtful while Kolo Toure remains on duty at the African Nations Cup along with brother and midfielder Yaya Toure.
Forwards Mario Balotelli and Samir Nasri have recovered from illness but full-backs Maicon and Micah Richards (both knee) are not yet ready to return.
City have again insisted Balotelli is still their player despite yet more rumours linking the striker with AC Milan.
City have repeatedly denied the 22-year-old is poised to leave the Etihad Stadium throughout the January transfer window.
Yet the latest stories have suggested discussions between the clubs over a possible move before Thursday's deadline have begun and that the controversial Balotelli has already held a leaving party.
But City manager Roberto Mancini has been highly dismissive of all the speculation and his assistant David Platt expressed a similar attitude.
Platt said: "I saw that speculation but I've not heard anything.
"It's a shame Robbie's not here. He might know more than me but as far as we are concerned I think he is still a Manchester City player.
"I don't think there is anything is going to happen."
When asked if he was aware of any negotiations between clubs or the player, Platt said: "I'm not.
"I can only go off what you know and I have seen. I know exactly the same as you, which is speculation."
With leaders Manchester United not in action until Wednesday, the game offers City the chance to put their rivals under more pressure by cutting their lead at the top to two points.
City will travel as firm favourites with QPR five points adrift of safety at the foot of the table but Platt expects Redknapp's men to respond after their shock FA loss to MK Dons.
He said: "They have started to amass points.
"Harry is not stupid, he knows a point here and there with the others losing around you gives you something to hold on to.
"It is a difficult game - always is, more so under the lights, tight ground.
"The team is likely to be completely different from the cup game but I am sure they will want to bounce back."
