Premier League 2014/15 club preview: Liverpool

25 July 2014 09:42

Well, what a beautiful mess to be in! Having lost probably pound for pound the best striker on the planet, at the same time Liverpool have also gotten rid of an imbecile.

Where do they need to strengthen? Stevie G has announced his retirement from England duties so that’s the midfield engine sorted….ahem. Danny Sturridge is having his injured legs pumped up in some sort of space age sleeping bag, once that’s done, the forward line is sorted. But seriously, with Lallananallananana helping ping things about the midfield and a bargain in the form of Rickie Lambert (I know he is no spring chicken) plus German wunderkind Emre Can, all of this is aiding the promise of Coutinho and Sterling going forward.

Linked with:

Isco, Javi Manquillo, Xherdan Shaqiri, Karim Benzema

So Who?

A serious case of ‘any of the above’. When you have at least £75m to throw about, I am sure I appear on their transfer target list somewhere…fairly low…near the bottom! Defence is a key area marked for improvement, but there has not been any serious speculation with a proven player. It does appear that they may be falling into the same trap as Tottenham and filling one player’s space with 87, but hopefully they would have seen that and learnt…maybe!
