Player watch: Arab star with a lot of potential

Surely every self respecting Premier League club will have scouts watching tournaments and matches across the globe. And if that’s the case, then surely it is only a matter of time before the very skilful United Arab Emirates (UAE) star player Omar Abdulrahman is enticed to these shores.

Iran and United Arab Emirates had already qualified for the Asian Cup quarter-finals, but their clash on Monday was still important with the winners avoiding Japan, one of the favourites to pick up the trophy in Australia.

Despite UAE dominating the second half with Omar pulling the strings and cutting the defence to pieces with his vision and passes, Iran scored a dramatic winner in injury time, the UAE face Japan on 23rd January in Sydney in the quarter-finals.

Japan are a very strong side in this competition and have so far won all three group games, scoring 8 goals and not conceding as they topped Group D. With several players that ply their trade in top European leagues such as Keisuke Honda (AC Milan), Yūto Nagatomo (Inter), Shinji Okazaki (Mainz) and Shinji Kagawa of Borussia Dortmund, also played 38 times for Manchester united, it is clear that they are favourites to make the semis.

However with Omar Abdulrahman in the UAE side it is by no means a certainty. The game is definitely worth watching, so far the games in the Asian Cup so far there have been 64 goals and no draws. Great news for anyone wanting to watch goals and dramatic matches.

If you do watch the game on Friday keep an eye out for Omar Abdulrahman, he is an attacking midfielder and is easily noticeable with his long black curly hair. He had a two week trial at Man City in 2012-13 season after coming back from injury but went back to the Middle East and was voted Emirati Player. But if he can keep up the displays he has produced so far it won't be long before he’s back in England.
