PFA Fans' Player of the Month: September 2013 - Premier League

04 October 2013 10:40

The first full month of the season is now complete and so it is time for fans to have their say and vote for the player who has impressed them most so far this season. It certainly has been an interesting first six matches, the outcomes of which has left clubs from London and Liverpool holding the top five places and Manchester United sitting in a lowly 12th place.

There have been some excellent early season performances across the Premier League and the following have caught the eye of the team at football.co.uk;

Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) – The Arsenal and Wales midfielder seems to have finally put his injury nightmare behind him and is showing the form that persuaded Arsene Wenger to spend around £10 million on him in 2008. So far this season he has scored eight goals in all competitions for club and country.

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea, on loan at Everton) – The 20 year old Belgium striker has really hit the ground running since his loan move to Everton was set up on the final day of the summer transfer window. He has quickly formed an excellent understanding with England starlet Ross Barkley culminating in a first half double in the 3-2 victory of Newcastle in the final Match of September.

Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool) – Sturridge had already established himself as a firm Kop favourite with his scoring exploits in the second half of the 2012/13 season. Any fears that he may not be able to maintain that consistency in the new term were quickly dispelled as three goals in the first three matches propelled Liverpool to the Premier League summit. Liverpool may have stuttered slightly in recent weeks, but Sturridge is showing no sign of losing his eye for goal.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Tottenham Hotspur) – Whilst all the talk has been on one massive departure and several high profile purchases, it is one of the old guard that has helped Spurs to their best Premier League start for many seasons. Sigurdsson has linked up well with newcomer Christian Erikson both making and scoring goals. Spurs fans will be hoping that his form will continue and help them to a coveted Champions League finish – at the very least.

Vote now for your choice of Player of the Month in the Premier League and all three divisions of the Football League. Voting closes at midnight on Friday October 4th and remember it is a free vote and the above are just the thoughts of the football.co.uk editorial team.
