Petr Cech Declares Himself Fit Ahead of Atletico Madrid Match

Chelsea look to have been handed a massive boost for their Wednesday night Champions League second leg game against current La Liga front runners Atletico Madrid as Petr Cech, when asked "Are you fit" at this morning's training session, replied "Of course!".

Cech injured his shoulder in the first game in Madrid and has since been deputised ably by Mark Schwarzer, and he was initially thought to have dislocated his shoulder which would in all likelihood have rendered his season over. However, if genuinely fit, this can only be a boost for a team which have demonstrated a fabulous tactical nous in rendering both Liverpool's and Atletico's attack impotent over their last two games.

That being said, this is Jose Mourinho's team, and Cech's unexpected appearance in training could well be yet another mind game in order to play with their opponents expectations of the team to be played at Stamford Bridge. John Terry was also involved in training, and now seems likely to also make an appearance, which again would be something of a remarkable return given that Mourinho had said Terry would be only likely to return for the final of the Champions League should Chelsea get that far.

Given Chelsea's performance at Anfield, irrespective of the actual team which starts, Chelsea at home must be favorites to progress, and could well end up facing Mourinho's previous team Real Madrid in the final in Lisbon, should they hold on to their lead from the first leg, something the Portuguese manager must be looking forward to immensely.
