Partick striker Ade Azeez eyes scoring run

Partick striker Ade Azeez aims to go on a goalscoring run now that he has got off the mark.

The former Wimbledon striker netted his first goal since his summer move during Thistle's 4-1 Betfred Cup win at Stenhousemuir in midweek.

And he hopes to claim his first goal at Firhill during Saturday's Glasgow derby against Queen's Park.

"I was delighted to get that first goal during the week," he said. "I'm absolutely buzzing. It's always a big deal to get off the mark for a new club and you don't want it dragging on.

"I had a few chances in the games before and haven't taken them so it starts to play a little on your mind, but I was delighted when it came.

"Hopefully it's the first of many the Thistle fans get to see me score.

"It relaxes you and yo go out and play with more confidence."

Thistle have won all three games so far but will take nothing for granted against the Spiders.

"The manager and coaching staff have been telling us we have to make sure we go out and perform no matter who we are playing, we have to make sure we win every game and we have to do that on Saturday, we know a win will see us top the group and we will be seeded in the next round," Azeez said.

"We don't want to slip up and for our hard work so far to be for nothing."

Queen's Park will be without the injured Tony Quinn (hip), Jamie McKernan (foot) and John Carter (ankle) when they travel across Glasgow.

Craig McLeish and Gregor Fotheringham are injury doubts, with head coach Gus MacPherson saying: "We are facing a good Partick Thistle side after a very strong second-half showing against Airdrie where we pulled two goals back to draw 3-3.

"We have progressed in every game but this will be a test.

"For a lot of our players it is the first time that they have faced top-flight players so it will be a great experience and one that they should look to enjoy."
