Pablo Mari joins Manchester City and looks set for Girona loan

Manchester City have signed defender Pablo Mari from Gimnastic Tarragona, the Spanish club have announced.

Press Association Sport understands Mari is set to go straight out on loan to Gimnastic's fellow Spanish second-tier side Girona.

The 22-year-old had been with Gimnastic since 2013, making 90 appearances.

A statement on the club's website said: "We thank Pablo Mari for his commitment, discipline and hard work that he has contributed during these three years in the ranks of the first team.

"Gimnastic de Tarragona wishes Mari good luck on a personal and professional level in his new team, Manchester City FC."

Meanwhile, City have announced their Spanish midfielder Manu Garcia has joined LaLiga side Alaves on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old made his City debut last season and has featured four times for the first team in all competitions to date, scoring one goal.
