Peter Odemwingie knows what to expect when he makes his first return to The Hawthorns on Sunday.
The striker was initially a fan favourite at West Brom after joining the club in 2010, but the relationship turned sour over the second half of last season.
Odemwingie had a transfer request rejected in January 2013 and was famously spotted outside Loftus Road even though a deal had not been agreed with QPR.
The Nigeria international had no choice but to return to West Brom, but he did not make another start and was highly critical of the club in a series of rants on Twitter.
Odemwingie was sold to Cardiff last summer and then moved on again to Stoke in January, for whom he has scored five goals in 14 appearances.
He told local reporters: "I played against West Brom at Cardiff, but this will be my first time back at The Hawthorns.
"It's going to be a mixed reception after my last six months there and I'm not expecting anything different.
"Some fans are grateful for the 30 goals I scored for them and some still feel offended, but it was a choice I had to make.
"I had to move on for my life. Some people understand, some don't. You can't please everybody."
Stoke will make the short trip to The Hawthorns for the final game of the season in good spirits after last weekend's 4-1 victory over Fulham, in which Odemwingie opened the scoring.
A point against West Brom would set a new Stoke record points tally in the Premier League, and history is on their side.
The Potters have a superb record in matches between the teams and have won on their last four visits to their rivals' ground.
Odemwingie said: "Stoke have a great record against West Brom, I remember that. Some clubs have that bogey team who always seem to beat them, and that's Stoke for West Brom.
"The history shouldn't matter too much on the day because we're a strong team in our own right, but the stats from previous games will only help us feel more confident."
