Byrom set for Cobblers bow

Joel Byrom is set to make his Northampton debut against Shrewsbury after signing on loan from Preston until January.

The midfielder will go straight into the squad for the game at Sixfields as cover for the injured Ian Morris.

Morris has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a dislocated knee and Darren Carter is also sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring problem.

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder will also allow striker Emile Sinclair to leave Sixfields either on loan or on a permanent deal.

But Chris Hackett is available after making his comeback from a sore Achilles in their 2-0 Sky Bet League Two defeat to Portsmouth on Tuesday.

Shrewsbury are set to be unchanged after their 4-0 romp over Accrington in midweek.

Striker Andy Mangan is expected to keep his place after he marked his full debut with two goals against Stanley, taking his total to three this season.

Midfielder Dave McAllister has resumed training after ankle trouble, which has plagued him since March, but is not match fit.

Micky Mellon is aiming to extend his unbeaten start as Shrewsbury boss as Town target a fourth straight win.
