The North London pair of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both sent scouts to watch Werder Bremen star Marko Marin over the weekend as the chase for the player’s signature hots up with Manchester United also keen admirers of the playmaker’s talents.
The precocious Bundesliga star is widely considered one of the finest young players on the continent and although Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona have also been tracking the German international the North London clubs both had scouts in attendance for Werder Bremen’s 0-0 draw at Wolfsburg.
The 21-year-old moved to Werder Bremen in 2009 from Borussia Monchengladbach and has consistently been the club’s star player earning admirers from across Europe. The Bundesliga club are resigned to losing their star player however a big money January move is unlikely with the club unwilling to do business at the half-way point in the season.
Old Trafford Chief Sir Alex Ferguson has also kept a close eye on Marin and has had his scouts watch the playmaker with reports suggesting last week that the Scot was the frontrunner for the player’s signature.
Marin already has 15 caps for Germany and has been Werder Bremen’s star player during a season in which they have struggled.
