Motherwell midfielder Craig Clay hopes to break his scoring duck against Killie

Craig Clay hopes plenty of practice - and a few tips from James McFadden - can help him break his duck for Motherwell.

The midfielder hit five goals in two seasons for Grimsby but has yet to get off the mark since his summer move to Fir Park.

The 24-year-old thought he had done so against Hearts in September before Jack Hamilton pulled off a stunning reaction stop.

Since then Clay has been putting in the hours on the training ground to rectify the situation ahead of Saturday's visit of Kilmarnock.

"I do want to add goals to my game," he said. "As a midfielder you want to get six or seven goals, hopefully the penny will drop soon. Maybe it's a bit of composure or a little bit of luck.

"I keep going back to the one against Hearts where the keeper made a save. If that had gone in, maybe it would have given me that little bit of confidence to go on and get a few. But you can't look at things like that. It's not going in for a reason, so I just need to make sure I put it in the bottom corner next time."

Kilmarnock striker Souleymane Coulibaly, meanwhile, has thanked boss Lee Clark for giving him his buzz back.

The Ivorian has made a sensational start to his Rugby Park career, netting 10 goals since moving north in the summer.

But the 21-year-old - who shot to prominence as a teenager when he led the scoring charts at the 2011 Under-17 World Cup - admits he feared his career had stalled after being released by Peterborough at the end of last season.

Clark took a chance on the former Tottenham youngster and handed him a three-year deal - and he has been quickly rewarded with a string of stunning strikes that have nudged Killie into the top six.

Coulibaly said: "The manager has given me some buzz back, some power.

"A lot of people were thinking before 'Coulibaly is dead'. I couldn't find a home.

"I was top scorer at the Under-17 World Cup but some people thought [I was finished] - but now I'm showing them they are wrong. I'm still a top scorer.

"I'm trying to give the manager my thanks by scoring goals and by helping the team. I'm trying my best to give him that pay back because he deserves that."
