Morton maintain pressure with win

Morton remain on the coat tails of League One leaders Stranraer after a 2-0 win against Dunfermline at Cappielow.

Second-half goals from Ross Caldwell and Peter MacDonald gave Jim Duffy's side a first home win in four matches and moved third-placed Morton to within two points of the top of the table.

The hosts started well and threatened through MacDonald, Ross Forbes and then Michael Miller, although all three players missed the target.

Dunfermline goalkeeper Ryan Scully was not worked until the 38th minute when he pushed away a header from Thomas O'Ware.

Caldwell's low finish put Morton ahead after 67 minutes but Derek Gaston was immediately called on to preserve the lead, parrying an Andy Barrowman header.

Caldwell turned provider for MacDonald to make it 2-0 with nine minutes remaining with another low shot beyond Scully to leave Dunfermline fifth in the table, but without a win in six league games.
