Mis-firing Ronaldo makes point as pressure builds on Portugal

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be showing the strain of his faltering Euro 2016 performances - after apparently throwing a reporter's microphone into a river.

In footage shown on sport website www.sport-english.com, the Real Madrid star and his international team-mates are seen strolling alongside the river when the journalist approaches him.

He is asked, in Portuguese, the seemingly innocuous question, "Are you ready for the game today?"

But the 31-year-old forward appears to react angrily by snatching the microphone from the reporter and hurling it towards the water.

Ronaldo's displays have come under scrutiny after Portugal were held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland in their opening game, after which his comments about their opponents' "small mentality" drew widespread criticism.

He then missed a penalty in the goalless draw with Austria which leaves Portugal third in Group F and in danger of exiting the tournament before the knockout stages.

They need a win against Hungary in Lyon on Wednesday night to guarantee a place in the last 16.
