Five-star Dons clinch promotion

Captain Dean Lewington scored twice as MK Dons' 5-1 thrashing of relegated Yeovil, coupled with Colchester's defeat of Preston, conspired to promote them to the Championship.

The Dons were met by no resistance from the Glovers as they ran out easy winners but they still required a favour and George Moncur's late winner for Colchester drew the biggest cheer of the day at stadiummk.

Karl Robinson's side put themselves into the box seat after just six minutes when Carl Baker hammered a terrific drive into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

The Dons were in full control of the game and doubled their lead when Lewington bent in a superb free kick that gave Artur Krysiak no chance.

Darren Potter added a third by volleying in Lewington's knock-down and the hosts' 100th league goal wasn't long in coming as Baker's cross found the head of Will Grigg.

Yeovil finally showed signs of life after the restart as Jordan Spence sliced into his own net to gift a goal back but Lewington then scored his second by nodding in Ben Reeves' free kick.
