McClaren needs to buy British

With Newcastle United currently being littered with a host of foreign players, notably French speaking, the club need to start looking at the British market to put a bit of fight back in to the club and show the Geordies that the black and white shirt is to be proud of wearing. The Magpies only just scraped relegation on the last day of the season and although St. James' Park was electric that day, fans will not want to see another last day relegation battle.

With the current squad, only four English players would be classed as regular squad members last season, Mike Williamson, Jack Colback, Steven and Ryan Taylor who both missed a huge chunk of the season, the latter has now been released from the club, leaving just three first team English players left. Fans would say there has been some awful foreign buys; Anita, Gouffran, Cabella, Obertan, De Jong and Riviere all seem to be well under par, however fans are hoping Remy Cabella and Siem De Jong can kick-start their Newcastle careers. There has also been some great bargain buys as well; Cabaye who was sold, is now struggling to get in to the PSG starting X1, to current stars such as Krul, Janmaat, Sissoko and Perez.

It's not surprising The Magpies are lately linked to QPR striker Charlie Austin who had an outstanding first season at top flight football, earning an England call up. Winger Tom Ince whom McClaren took on loan last campaign with Derby, netting an impressive 11 goals in 18 Championship games but it's rumoured Hull are asking a hefty price for the 23 year old. Newcastle need to strengthen down the spine especially at centre back, a holding midfielder and another striker, it will be no surprise if McClaren dips in to the Dutch market he knows well for bargains but the Geordies will demand that British bulldog fight back in to the team.
