Stuttering Mansfield slip up at home to Swindon

Mansfield's sluggish start to the season continued following a lacklustre 3-1 defeat at home to Swindon.

Goals from Amine Linganzi, John Goddard and a Luke Norris penalty sent the pre-season promotion favourites crashing to their third defeat in four matches.

Danny Rose pulled a goal back with his seventh of the campaign in stoppage time, but it was too little too late.

Linganzi prodded home Matt Taylor's cross to put Swindon ahead on four minutes and Norris had a snapshot saved by Paddy Logan, before Paul Mullin blazed the loose ball over after 24 minutes.

Jimmy Spencer had a shot saved low down by Reice Charles-Cook on the half-hour mark.

Goddard put the finishing touch to a superb team move to double Swindon's lead after 45 minutes.

Mansfield sub Lee Angol forced Charles-Cook to tip a piledriver over the bar after 50 minutes.

The visitors wrapped the game up after 54 minutes when Norris slotted home from the penalty spot after he had drawn a foul from Krystrian Pearce.

Rose then got a late consolation a minute into time added on when ge got between Matt Preston and Olly Lancashire to turn home Alex MacDonald's cross.
