Manchester United's Robin Van Persie returns to haunt Arsenal

The official curtain raiser to the 2013-14 Premier League season, the Community Shield, is done and dusted but not before the former Arsenal hitman Van Persie’s brace concluded a perfect start for the new Scott at Manchester United, David Moyes. The manager’s first trophy at the club provided a welcome break from a lackluster pre-season (but anyways, not much store should be laid into those practice matches). Van Persie also went as far as dedicating the victory to Moyes and perhaps provided a preview of his torrid form under his third manager in three years.

The Dutchman’s departure from Arsenal to United has now yielded two trophies for him, already equaling his haul while spending eight long years at the north London club. While Arsenal supporters anxiously wait for Wenger to bring a big name to the club, Manchester United look to maintain their form from last season with almost the entire squad retained and stable.

Arsenal’s quest for a trophy might grow tougher by the day given their current state and Van Persie sure doesn’t want them to break the drought any time soon as he stated his intentions to capture five out of five this season with United. Well, that’s already one down and four more to go!
