Manchester United linked with Danilo bid

Manchester United have been linked with a number of defensive options over the past months including right-backs such as Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne. The most recent rumour puts Porto star Danilo in the frame but with a fairly typical inflated buy-out clause of some £37million.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has been a regular starter for Porto and featured for Brazil at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Danilo Luiz da Silva is better known simply as Danilo may well find that Portuguese tax in the form of inflated buy-out clauses which has led to significant wealth going to clubs like Porto over the years may well put off many clubs. Reports this morning suggest the player is being seriously considered as a right-back option in the summer but some negotiation you would think would be required.

United don’t have a great return with players brought over from Porto - the last player transferred from Porto to United was the hugely talented £25m Anderson who departed recently after a long spell blighted by injury.

Danilo joined Porto in 2012 from Santos and has gone on to make 82 league appearances and scored 8 goals. The Brazilian has twice won the Primeira Liga title with Porto in 11-12 and 12-13 and is contracted with Porto until June 2016 after being signed for €13m. The right-back formed a partnership with with fellow countryman Alex Sandro who plays on the opposite wing during their back-to-back period as champions of Portugal.
