Manchester City set to swoop for former Chelsea midfield starlet

Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City are keen on former Chelsea youngster Kevin De Bruyne. The Premier League Champions are keen to add talent to their injury hit squad in January with De Bruyne at the top of the clubs transfer wishlist.

De Bruyne joined German side Wolfburg in January of this year after failing to impress Jose Mourinho, but City boss Pellegrini see's the attacking midfielder as the perfect addition to his team as they chase down Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.

The 23-year-old was signed by Chelsea for just £7million in 2012 before the London club sold De Bruyne to Bundesliga challengers Wolfsburg at the beginning of the year for an inflated £18million.

The Daily Star reports that City's scouts have run the rule over the Belgian international and have been suitably impressed, leaving City mulling a bid for the creative talent. Wolfsburg are said to want £20million but City would be happier with a deal around £18million, with Financial Fair Play once again restricting Manchester City's spending power.
