Manchester City offered deal for top Manchester United target

Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi has in past weeks been heavily linked to Manchester United with the move expected to be concluded soon but it has now emerged that Valencia would rather have Manchester City sign the defender.

Valencia are in a situation where they have to pay £23 million to City for Alvaro Negredo’s loan spell in Spain but would rather City sign Otamendi whom they value at £33 million to cover their debt. The player has not voiced any preference as to which half of Manchester he would rather be on yet based on past relations, a move to the Citizens would be more likely.

Manchester City manager is said to have met the 27 year old recently probably to discuss a possible move and yet a defender was not really top of the agenda for Manchester City going into the transfer window.

With Sergio Ramos possibly on his way to Old Trafford it would seem like United will not be involved in a tussle for Otamendi which might have increased his value in Valencia’s favour or made for a dramatic transfer window. In the end, it is probably best for United not to get Otamendi as they already have a sizeable number of average players in the defensive positions. Quality is what they really need in this transfer window.
