Manchester City join the hunt for Barcelona maestro

Reports from Spain suggest that Dani Alves is ready to end his stay at Barcelona unless the Catalan giants are to quickly offer him a new contract. Most top clubs would be interested by such a situation but Manchester City have come up as front runners mainly due to the big package they would offer and the lack of experience at the highest level within their squad.

The player himself has not actually made any known public references to Manchester City but neither has he denied the speculation. It is thought that he has always wanted to play for Manchester United and thus Manchester City may well be a likely destination.

The deal seems to be quite near finalising if Dani’s agent is anyone to go by as he has been quoted as saying, “We are close to signing for another club. We are in advanced talks”

Dinorah Santana then goes on to say that Barcelona still have the option to keep Alves but should act fast; supposedly a plan to eke out a contract renewal for his client or to invite potential suitors.

Whatever the case may be, the addition of Alves will no doubt be a huge boost to the current squad and also act as a warning sign for potential rivals in the season to come.
