Reports in the Daily Express claim that Man united are set to move for Cristiano Ronaldo in January.

The 29 year-old spent 6 years very successful seasons at Old Trafford, winning the Premier League 3 times and the Champions league in 2008. Ronaldo, has previously stated his love for the club and the rumours of a return have been rife in the last couple of years, and United could be set to make an offer in the region of £60 million, 20 million less for what they sold him to Real Madrid in 2009.

It is expected Ed Woodward will offer the Ballon D’or holder £300,000 a week. United have also been linked with a move for Roma’s Kevin Strootman, however the Italian giants have ruled out selling him in January.

Ronaldo could be tempted to join United and link up with some of his former team-mates, most notably Angel Di Maria who left Real Madrid this summer for a British record fee.

The one stumbling block Ed Woodward has is securing the deal is that the Red Devils are not competing in the Champions league this season. Ronaldo has always stated his love for the club, and a move towards the later stage of his career seems a more likely option.
