Madrid is the Real deal for Odegaard with Norwegian starlet on the brink

Spanish giants Real Madrid look close to signing football's most wanted youngster, Norwegian Martin Odegaard. According to Inside Futbol, Los Blancos flew Odegaard into Madrid late Tuesday evening on a private jet as they hope the 16-year-old will put pen to paper and agree a deal with the reigning Champions of Europe.

Odegaard's tour of Europe's elite clubs (Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Celtic, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, to name a few) has been no secret as the youngster looks to find a club that will nurture his talent in the right way – funnily enough this isn't something Real Madrid are renowned for.

Never the less it appears it is Madrid who are in the driving seat of Odegaard's future, who just last year became the youngest ever player to appear in a European Championship qualifier.

Norwegian newspaper VG (translation required) were first to report that Odegaard had flown with his father to Madrid aboard a private jet.

It is expected that the prospect will not hesitate to sign with Madrid, now his mind is made up. It's likely Odegaard will also bypass the clubs academy and go straight into the senior squad where he will be given the number 16 shirt.

Madrid getting their man would come as a blow to those European sides who had put massive amounts of effort into wooing the highly-rated player, with Odegaard training with a number of potential suitors in the recent past, including Munich, Barca and Liverpool – a team which he follows personally.
