Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette Liverpool's Remy alternative

After the Loic Remy deal collapsed over weekend Liverpool fans were all left wondering, what’s next in this increasingly important transfer window.

After being linked with average players such as Ryan Bertrand of Chelsea the signing of Remy from QPR for a bargain £8.5m fee would have been a great way to get the Reds back on track after losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Since that move is now off the Reds could refocus their efforts to sign a Lyon hitman Alexandre Lacazette.

Liverpool were touted as holding an interest in the Frenchman after missing out on Alexis Sanchez (according to French outlet Mercato 365).

Now, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Liverpool could once again focus on Lyon's Lacazette, a player they have scouted closely over the last year.

Lyon had been hoping to keep hold of Lacazette, who recently snubbed an approach from Newcastle United, and have been discussing a contract extension with the 23-year-old.

Lacazette, 23, was one of the stars of the last season in Ligue 1, scoring 22 goals and grabbing eight assist in all competitions last season.
