Livi Myles better in extra time

Livingston maintained their unbeaten start to the season when edging out Queen of the South 1-0 in the closing stages of extra time in the tightest of Scottish League Cup ties.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half, but Livingston's Burton O'Brien skimmed the top of the net with a fair free-kick effort and Keaghan Jacobs forced Zander Clark into a fine save.

Clark was called into action again soon after the break when making a double save from Kyle Jacobs and Jordan White, while Jason Talbot volleyed wide from inside the box and the Doonhamers had a penalty appeal turned down after Kevin Dzierzawski's shot ricocheted off several bodies, but it remained 0-0 after 90 minutes.

The visitors had the chance to go ahead in the second half of extra time when Iain Russell was through on goal, but Darren Jamieson pulled off a great save and then Clark had to be alert to keep out a Mark Burchill strike at the other end.

Finally the deadlock was broken after 119 minutes of play when substitute Myles Hippolyte fired the ball home from six yards out.
