Liverpool close in on Bayern Star Shaqiri

Reports coming out of Switzerland via reliable Swiss newspaper 20min claim that Liverpool are close to completing another deal, this time a £15m deal for Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri as reported by the DailyStar.

Shaqiri admitted last month he was ready to quit Bayern after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular since the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager last summer.

And according to reports in Shaqiri's native Switzerland, Liverpool are close to clinching his signature (http://www.20min.ch/sport/fussball/story/22767452) requires translation.

If the 22-year-old completes a switch to Anfield, he would become Liverpool's third summer signing following the arrivals of Southampton forward Rickie Lambert and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can, and would represent another major talent walking through the Shankly Gates.

Liverpool are not taking this summers transfer window lightly and from the looks of it they are showing no signs of slowing down yet.

The need to sign a goal scoring midfielder and a powerful centre back are certainly positions that will be addressed in the coming weeks as Brendan Rodgers prepares his squad for the new season and the return to Champions League.

There is talk of Daniel Agger moving on but we'll save that for a later date
