Leicester don't need to sell Kasper Schmeichel, says Craig Shakespeare
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare expects Kasper Schmeichel to stay at the Foxes.
The goalkeeper has been linked with a move from the King Power Stadium now they cannot offer Champions League football next season.
Manchester United have been tipped to make a move for the 30-year-old with Real Madrid expected to revive their interest in Spain international David De Gea.
Reports have also suggested Schmeichel has left long-term representatives Triple S Management in favour of Luca Bascherini, but Shakespeare remains unconcerned and believes the Denmark international will stay.
"I do, I think he's in the form of his life. He's entitled to change his agent if the other agent is out of contract," he said.
"He has been very professional and his level of performance has shown that. Nothing has affected him, with the type of character he is - and he's a very strong character - I expect him to carry on the way he's performed.
"I'm not aware of any interest. I've said before I have no problems with the players wanting to progress and play in the Champions League - which we have offered this season.
"But ultimately Kasper is happy here, you can see that in the way he conducts himself. He's in the form of his life and we have to cross that bridge (an offer) when we come to it. We've had no offers.
"He's under a long-term contract with us and as far as I'm aware he's perfectly happy. We don't need to sell."
Schmeichel signed a five-year contract in August after helping Leicester win the Premier League last season.
This term he has kept seven clean sheets in the top flight ahead of Saturday's visit of Watford with just four games left.
Leicester are 11th in the table after ending their five-game winless run with last weekend's 1-0 victory at West Brom.
Captain Wes Morgan is out of the game against the Hornets as he continues to battle a hamstring injury but is expected to return to training next week.
Meanwhile, Watford manager Walter Mazzarri is determined his squad will not lose focus over the final few games of the season as the Italian looks towards the future.
The Hornets have already accrued 40 points and are eight clear of relegation strugglers Swansea, on whom they also hold a match in hand as well as superior goal difference.
Despite appearing to have met his pre-season brief of delivering stability in his first campaign in England, Mazzarri continues to battle against speculation over his future amid reports of an unsettled dressing room.
The former Napoli and Inter boss, though, remains focused on the job in hand, while also keeping a view on how his side could look next season.
"I always find incentives in every game. There are still four remaining, we will try to play good football and get good results," Mazzarri said.
"The club knows what I have said to them (about next season) and I have a clear idea, but we still have four games to evaluate the team.
"Even though I have a clear idea it is important to see which players will come into the team and give everything to the team."
Watford will monitor defender Jose Holebas, who has a foot injury.
Centre-back Miguel Britos has been ruled out with a muscle problem in his lower leg which forced the Uruguay international off after just 19 minutes against Liverpool on Monday night.
Defender Craig Cathcart (knee) and Younes Kaboul (hamstring) are also still sidelined, along with Roberto Pereyra (knee) and forward Mauro Zarate (anterior cruciate ligament).
