Juventus pledge to end season with a flourish

Juventus need to "honour" their remaining matches as they celebrate their fifth successive Scudetto, according to Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The Turin giants will play at home against Carpi on Sunday for the first time since securing their record-equalling title thanks to Roma's 1-0 victory over Napoli last Monday.

However, the Swiss right-back told juventus.com that he believes the table-toppers need to focus on finishing the season in the same form that enabled them to clinch the league championship.

"Thinking of winning match after match was exactly our approach over the course of our fightback and that's the way we'll stay.

"We're Juventus and it's in our nature to never let our intensity drop. We've a Coppa Italia to retain and three league matches to honour."

The defender, who joined in 2011 before the club's first Scudetto of the run, also believes that it will be even more difficult to retain the Serie A title for a record-breaking sixth time next season.

"Our success over the years is mainly down to ourselves and our overall qualities in this team because there have always been creditable challengers for the title in Milan in the first year, then Roma and now Napoli.

"Next term I expect all three of them as well as Inter to be fighting towards the top."

With the fate of the league title already decided with three games to go; the battle for second place is still ongoing and will take place on Monday as Roma travel to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to face Genoa, with the Giallorossi able to at least temporarily move to second before Napoli host Atalanta two hours later.

The champions could make life more difficult for Carpi, who sit above the relegation zone, with victory at Juventus Stadium, whereas Frosinone could be in real trouble if they do not come away with anything in their clash with AC Milan at the San Siro. Inter Milan can strengthen their grip on fourth spot when they visit Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Udinese will look to alleviate any relegation fears in what is Antonio Di Natale's final last three games in the black and white shirt with a home victory against Torino while Fiorentina will look to edge closer to a Europa League place for next season with three points against eighth-placed Chievo.

Third-from-bottom Palermo can boost their survival hopes with a much-needed win over 14th-placed Sampdoria, while already-relegated Hellas Verona are away to Sassuolo. Elsewhere, Empoli are at home to Bologna.
