Ighalo, Bamford and Gestede amongst potential PFA Fans' Player of the Month: Championship winners

27 January 2015 10:35

Troy Deeney has a new rival in the hero stakes at Vicarage Road after Odion Ighalo helped himself to a remarkable six-goal haul in just two games. The Nigerian struck twice in the 5-0 win over Charlton before doubling up against Blackpool as he hit four in the 7-2 win at the weekend. Ighalo was also on target in the 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield and has now joined Deeney on 11 goals for the season as the Hornets push for promotion.

Will Hughes continues to impress for Derby and it’s little wonder the teenage sensation is being courted by the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, amongst others.

The goals show no sign of drying up for Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy whose season’s tally of 18 to date keep him three ahead of Derby’s Chris Martin.

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, like Martin, also has 15 goals to his name and remains a key figure in the south coast club’s unlikely chase for the Championship title.

Patrick Bamford was one of Middlesbrough’s many heroes in the FA Cup shock victory over Manchester City, and Arsenal will be aware of the threat he poses when the two teams meet in the next round.

Rudi Gestede is also up there among the division’s leading scorers and took his goal tally to 12 in the weekend FA Cup victory against Swansea.

With just a few days to go before the end of the month, it’s time for you to register your vote for January’s star turn in the Championship.
