Fabio Capello was not surprised by England's exit on penalties to his homeland.

The former England boss, largely unmissed by those he left behind when he resigned unhappy at John Terry being stripped of the captaincy earlier this year, said they were too tired after a long season.

"They arrive cooked, that's normal. They never stop playing. I told them, but unfortunately the English fixture list is a sacred cow."

For the record Capello believes it will be a Spain-Italy final and that the Italians are good enough to win.
