Hull have completed the transfer of goalkeeper David Marshall from Cardiff for an undisclosed fee.

The Scotland international, 31, has agreed a three-year contract to become caretaker manager Mike Phelan's first signing.

His arrival is particularly crucial, given Phelan was overseeing a squad of only fit 14 senior players, and comes while Allan McGregor is out with a long-term back injury.

Marshall joins fellow Scotland internationals McGregor, Andy Robertson, Robert Snodgrass and Shaun Maloney at Hull, and will vie for selection with Eldin Jakupovic.

Marshall impressed for Cardiff during their season of Premier League football in 2013/14, and will next link-up with Gordon Strachan's squad as they prepare for Sunday's World Cup qualifier at Malta.
