Hearts going all out to give Ian Cathro first win against Kilmarnock

Hearts will be going all out against Kilmarnock on Tuesday night to give head coach Ian Cathro his first win, according to Arnaud Djoum.

The Jambos threw away a two-goal lead at Dundee on Friday night to lose 3-2 and leave the former Newcastle assistant coach with only one point in three games since taking over from Robbie Neilson.

Djoum has seen enough of Cathro to be confident, but is keen to get that elusive win against the Rugby Park side.

The 27-year-old Cameroon midfielder said: "We have to win the next game for him because we trust in him and every single player in the team has a lot of confidence in him because the way he wants to play, everybody wants to play like that.

"So the next game all of us have to really play for him to give him a good boost for the future, for ourselves as well for our confidence.

"He's very smart, we know precisely what we have to do and you seen in the first half and even the second half the way we played was okay.

"So the way he's thinking, the way he wants to play suits me as well because I like to play this way, dominating games and getting a lot of time on the ball.

"We just have to believe in him. He's a very good coach and good things will come in the future. Sometimes it takes patience to get better, but good things will come soon.

"It has taken time to adapt, but we've only been working with him for three weeks and you saw on Friday that we are starting to understand the way he wants us to play. We just have to continue like that and try to score more goals. It's very important to win."

Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd insists he can handle the flak coming his way at Tynecastle.

Boyd expects to cop abuse after publicly questioning the appointment of new Jambos boss Cathro. He claimed in his weekly newspaper column that the 30-year-old would be "out of his depth" in the Hearts job.

So far his concerns have proved to be correct - but Boyd does not think that will mean he gets an easy ride when he runs out in Edinburgh.

He said: "Going to Tynecastle is always a great occasion to play in and I'm looking forward to it.

"It's never going to be easy but we will give it our best shot.

"The (Ian Cathro situation) doesn't bother me. I've been to grounds with hostile crowds time after time.

"I've had the spotlight focused on me many times before but I'll just do my best for the team and hopefully we will get the three points.

"It's up to Hearts how they handle the situation. He's had a difficult start but we're in the same boat now.

"We've not won in a few games now and we know we need to go there and put on a performance.

"It's a difficult place to go but we've proved over the years we can go there and get a result."
