Jones cautious over Magnay inclusion ahead of Carlisle clash

Dave Jones remains cautious with Carl Magnay's return for Hartlepool after six months out with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

The full-back managed a brief comeback as a substitute in the home defeat to Portsmouth at the start of this month, but stayed on the bench in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

That point followed three successive defeats and kept Hartlepool three above the relegation positions.

On-loan defender Sean Kavanagh has been struggling with his hamstring - and Billy Paynter (Achilles), Trevor Carson (shoulder) and Rob Jones (knee) are all out for the season.

Jabo Ibehre will hope to force his way back into the starting line-up for Carlisle.

The striker came off the bench against Notts County last weekend after a month out injured and netted United's goal.

Midfielder Jason Kennedy also played the final half an hour on his return from more than two months on the sidelines and could be in contention for a starting place.

Midfielder Nicky Adams is likely to be ruled out by a hamstring injury while striker Shaun Miller serves the third of a four-match ban.
