Giroud, plus 32 Million for Edinson Cavani? Far fetched or Great Business?

Scouring through the media while hoping to find a glimmer of hope before the weekend Arsenal game against Everton, I stumbled across a French publication proffering the idea, and it got me to thinkingis that really such a stretch of the imagination?

PSG require funds in order to conform with the Financial Fair Play rules, so €40 Million is not to be sniffed at. He would also constitute a home grown player, something which would please and appease at the same time, and would increase the possibility of bringing in Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, something which has been speculated about for months now.

And what would Arsenal get from such a deal. Well for one, the fans have bemoaned the lack of a superstar striker for some time now, and have unfairly whinged and whined about Giroud as a by-product, even though the Frenchman's record is only one goal short of Henry's from one game more in his first season. Given Arsenal's performance against Besiktas, which constituted 3 shots on target all game, one of which was from a free kick, it is all too clear that Arsenal still need a man to put the ball in the net, after the plethora of interchangeable mid-fielders have finished their pretty exchanges.

Cavani can score goals, that much is certain, and would cost enough that the fans who equate expenditure to quality would be happy too. For myself, I would prefer Giroud to stay. He is settled with the team, and they understand each other well. The absence of Ramsey and Wilshere at various parts of last season were in my opinion the only reason Giroud finished with a tally of goals less than Henry in his first season, and if you add Walcott and Alexis into the equation, logic suggests only injuries will stop him scoring more.
