Symons leads new Fulham era

Kit Symons will take charge of Fulham when they host Blackburn after Felix Magath was sacked on Thursday.

The Cottagers remain bottom of the Championship with just one point from their first seven matches following Magath's final game in charge, Wednesday night's 5-3 defeat at leaders Nottingham Forest.

Magath's side did at least score more than once for the first first time this season, with Ross McCormack netting a brace either side of Hugo Rodallega's strike, so they will start in attack again with Matt Smith suspended and Adam Taggart (back) still injured.

However, caretaker boss Symons could make changes elsewhere - Magath made five in total in midweek - with the likes of Kay Voser, Emerson Hyndman, Sean Kavanagh and Chris David pushing for recalls.

Blackburn midfielder David Dunn has missed the last two games with a niggling knee injury and is again facing a fitness battle ahead of the trip.

Deadline-day signing Shane Duffy is pushing for a first start after coming on as a late substitute in Wednesday's 3-2 home loss to Derby.

Jason Lowe is on his way back from a foot injury and not far away from returning, while full-back Tommy Spurr (groin) and striker Chris Brown (knee) are also recovering well from pre-season setbacks.

Manager Gary Bowyer told Rovers Player: "We've got to start keeping clean sheets. We haven't done that this season, so we've still got work to do, we know that. But the attitude, the character and the work we've shown has been phenomenal."
