Yesterday it seems Tim Sherwood had his interview with West Brom's board including Richard Garlick, Jeremy Peace and newly appointed Terry Burton, according to the clubs official Facebook fan page.
Tim had been a bookies favourite for a number of weeks. Albion have gone since 12th of May without a manager when they departed with Pepe Mel who has since returned to his homeland of Spain.
Sherwood enjoyed a playing career from 1987-2005 where he played for the likes of Portsmouth. Here he won the Football a League 1st Division in 2002-03 and won the FA Premier League in 1994-95 with Blackburn Rovers where he also got into PFA Team of the Year for that rememberable season. He also enjoyed times with Coventry City, Watford, Norwich and Tottenham Hotspur, making 483 career apprearences and 50 club goals as a midfielder. He also made 3 international sinior games for England.
In October 2008, Sherwood joined Tottenham Hotspur as a coach under new manager Harry Redknapp. Five years later, on 16 December 2013, Tottenham announced that Sherwood would assume first team coaching duties following the departure of André Villas-Boas as the manager. He lost his first game in charge 2–1 at home to West Ham in the fifth round of the Capital One Cup but, four days later managed a 3–2 Premier League win over Southampton. On 23 December, Tottenham named Sherwood as their new head coach, handing him an 18-month contract until the end of the 2014–15 season. He left the club on 13 May 2014. It is also noteworthy that Tim Sherwood holds the record for highest win percentage for Spurs in the Premier League era.
Sherwood’s belligerent managerial style would certainly be a change in direction for Peace whose search has certainly narrowed down. But supporters are seeming to like the idea of the Englishman in charge and bringing a really challenging attitude to the Hawthorns. Talks are set to continue over the next few days so fans are hoping the vacant seat is filled soon.
