Newcastle United look like they're finally going to sign the French winger Florian Thauvin for a transfer fee of 17 million euros with Remy Cabella moving in the opposite direction on loan, according to reports today.

The 22-year-old has been linked with the Magpies in the previous transfer window as they made offers for him when he was at Lille and Marseille and it looks like he will finally join the team.

Florian played for Grenoble, Bastia and Lille before joining his current club Marseille in the summer of 2013 for a fee reported to be around 3.5 million euro.

The Marseille playmaker was in the French club's starting line-up against Stade Reims yesterday, the game which Thauvin's club lost 1 - 0.

He will join Mbemba, Wijnaldum, Aleksander Mitrovic and Ivan Toney as the fifth signing of this summer.

Cabella who joined the Magpies last summer would move on a loan with view to a permanent move, according to reports.

Marseille didn't qualify for the Champions League this season as they finished in the fourth place last season which made them qualified for the Europa League and they are desperate to bounce back, However, they started this season in a disappointing way having lost their first two league games of the season against SM Caen and Stade Reims.

Meanwhile Steve Mcclaren's side didn't start the season in a pleasant way as they gathered only one point from possible six as they drew with Southampton before losing to Swansea City on Saturday 2-0.
