New signing Fernando Llorente was part of Swansea's starting XI as the Welsh side recorded a 1-0 friendly win over Rennes at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

The 31-year-old Spanish striker, who joined the Swans from Sevilla on Friday, played for just under an hour and hit the post with one shot in a contest that was settled by a header from substitute Jay Fulton with 20 minutes to go.

Everton were beaten 1-0 at home by Espanyol, with Leo Baptistao netting an early penalty before Toffees midfielder Ross Barkley had one saved by Roberto.

Romelu Lukaku limped off in the second half and needed stitches to a cut, but Everton boss Ronald Koeman said afterwards the problem was not serious.

Other friendlies on Saturday saw Crystal Palace beat Valencia 3-1 at Selhurst Park, managerless Hull lose 2-1 to Torino in Austria, Stoke go down 1-0 at Hamburg and Watford and Middlesbrough draw 2-2 with Lorient and 0-0 with Real Sociedad respectively, both at home.
