Hats off to Weatherson

A Peter Weatherson hat-trick earned Annan a thrilling 5-4 victory over Elgin despite Darryl McHardy also grabbing a treble.

Six goals came in action-packed first-half, with Jamie Duff opening the scoring before Andrew Mitchell pulled level five minutes later.

Junior Ogen made it two in as many minutes as he fired in left-footed to make it 2-1 to the visitors after 22 minutes.

McHardy capped off a mad 10 minutes with his first of the day to equalise but Annan again took the lead shortly before the break as Weatherson scored with a low drive.

However McHardy added his second in first-half stoppage time to bring an entertaining half to a close at 3-3.

Weatherson restored the lead after the break before completing his second hat-trick of the season after an hour.

McHardy scored the first hat-trick of his career in stoppage time to make it 5-4.
