Pars ready to take on Annan

Dunfermline, who had false start against Raith Rovers last weekend when their game was called off due to a rainstorm, welcome Annan for the very first time in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

The East End Park side are in good shape with Alex Whittle free of suspension, Ross Forbes, Ryan Thomson, Ryan Wallace and Faissal El Bakhtaoui all available after injury and defender Jonathan Page available after illness.

Andy Stirling is not yet ready to return, with manager Jim Jefferies saying: "Annan showed a lot of determination and a fair amount of spirit against Hearts so they will not be getting treated lightly. We want to progress in this cup."

Annan striker Kenny MacKay, who was a transfer target of the Pars during the summer, misses out due to a hamstring injury and defender Peter Watson is absent due to suspension.

Goalkeeper Gary Black is struggling with a knock and Galabank manager Jim Chapman is looking for his men to show how much they have learned after being defeated 3-0 at Hearts last Saturday.

Chapman said: "It is terrific that we have opened our season at great venues such as Tynecastle and East End Park.

"We lost last week however it will not have been a wasted game if the players put into practice the lessons they were taught especially about defending."
