Domenico Criscito 'leaving the door open' for Inter Milan switch

Domenico Criscito remains open to the prospect of a summer move to Inter Milan after revealing a potential transfer fell through last year.

Zenit St Petersburg's Italian left-back swapped Genoa for Russia in June 2011 and has since been a part of two Premier League title-winning teams.

Serie A club Inter have been strongly linked with the 29-year-old, who admits he was "very close" to making a switch to San Siro in 2015.

He told calciomercato.com: "The Inter rumours? I've had no contact from them at the moment, in terms of discussing my plans for next season. I was definitely very close to joining in the summer.

"The absence of an agreement between the two clubs blocked any further negotiations.

"Right now I'm focused on the Champions League and finishing the season with Zenit, but I will always leave the door open for Inter."

Alex Telles is the current left-back in Roberto Mancini's Inter side but the Brazilian is only on loan from Galatasaray.

The fifth-placed Nerazzurri will only be obliged to sign Telles permanently - for a reported fee of 9.5million euros - if they qualify for the Champions League.
