Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale has set his sights on reaching 200 Serie A goals before he retires from football.
The 36-year-old forward announced midway through the 2013-14 season that he was looking to hang up his boots this summer.
However, the former Italy international reconsidered and is now looking forward to his 11th campaign with Udinese.
"Three months ago I no longer had the wish to play," Di Natale, who scored 16 goals in 32 Serie A appearances to help Udinese finish 13th last term, told www.udinese.it.
"Then (club owner Giampaolo) Pozzo and my family made me change my mind.
"The people that are close to me have asked me to continue and to score my 200th goal.
"I am seven goals away from that mark.
"It would be fantastic to achieve that, but in order to do so I need to be well physically and prepare in the best possible way for the season.
"It would be amazing to equal the record of 205 Serie A goals set by Roberto Baggio."
Di Natale, who finished as the top scorer in Serie A in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, is looking forward to working under new coach Andrea Stramaccioni.
The former Inter Milan tactician took the reins of Udinese last month after long-term boss Francesco Guidolin stepped down to take a supervisory role at the Friuli club.
" I have spoken to Stramaccioni on the phone," Di Natale said. "He is a young coach, but he already has the experience of having guided a big club.
"He is a coach determined to launch talent."
