Derby welcome back Will Hughes and Craig Bryson from injury

Will Hughes and Craig Bryson will be back in the Derby squad when the Rams resume their Championship play-off challenge at home to Bristol City.

Both players missed the FA Cup replay against Leicester through injury but trained on Thursday and are available for the weekend. Hughes suffered his hamstring problem during the initial tie at Pride Park on January 27 while Bryson had been nursing a hip issue following the defeat at Newcastle.

Fellow midfielder Bradley Johnson is a fresh concern after the extra-time loss to Leicester and his back injury will be assessed.

Derby boss Steve McClaren made eight changes in the cup and the likes of Scott Carson, Marcus Olsson, Alex Pearce, Tom Ince and Darren Bent are among those expected to be recalled.

Korey Smith and Adam Matthews are set to return to the City squad after playing in a midweek friendly.

Midfielder Smith scored in the 6-0 behind-closed-doors victory over Cheltenham after being out for a month with a hamstring injury.

Full-back Matthews also completed 45 minutes after calf and hamstring problems, with both players substituted at half-time as planned.

New signing Matty Taylor is pushing for his first Robins start following his contentious cross-city move from Bristol Rovers.
