28 April 2015 04:31

With the Championship's automatic promotion places all but confirmed, with Watford and Bournemouth finding themselves headed for the promised land of the Premier League, there's just the small matter of who'll make those lucrative play-off places. And of course, who'll claim April's Championship PFA Fans' Player of the Month Award.

Odion Ighalo - Watford

Troy Deeney - Watford

Matt Ritchie – AFC Bournemouth

Yann Kermorgant – AFC Bournemouth

Patrick Bamford - Middlesbrough

Four of this months contenders come from the aforementioned teams, Watford and Bournemouth, with Odion Ighalo staking his claim after scoring three goals in six matches over the course of the month, including a crucial equaliser against Derby to secure a 2-2 draw having been down to 10-men after 44 minutes.

Team mate and captain Troy Deeney got in on the goalscoring action in April too, with goals against top of the table rivals Middlesbrough and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bournemouth's Matt Richie put his hat in the ring with goals against Sheffield Wednesday and a strike to make it 2-0 against Bolton as the club all but clinched promotion to the English top flight. Cherries striker Yann Kermorgant is also in with a shout after netting three times in April, taking his total for the season to 15 in all competitions.

On loan Chelsea starlet Patrick Bamford will be hoping his side Middlesbrough have what it takes to reach the Premier League via the play-off places after narrowly missing out on automatic promotion and if Bamford can continue his goal scoring exploits they'll certainly have a chance.
