Alex Kiwomya back in contention as Crewe take on Cambridge

Crewe have Alex Kiwomya back in contention for the visit of Cambridge.

The on-loan Chelsea winger missed the victory over Carlisle through illness but he has resumed training and is vying for a starting place on Saturday.

Striker Jordan Bowery was also feeling unwell last weekend but managed to play his part in the 2-0 win at Brunton Park, scoring the second goal after an hour.

Teenager Charlie Kirk has been left out of the last two squads because Alex boss David Artell has not been satisfied with his work rate, while Jon Guthrie (hernia) and Danny Hollands (hamstring) remain injured.

Cambridge defender Scott Wharton is expected to be ruled out after missing Tuesday's loss at Accrington.

The on-loan Blackburn defender withdrew with a hamstring injury he sustained in the warm-up.

Midfielder James Dunne (heel) is rated 50-50 to be fit to feature, while forward Adam McGurk is expected to come into consideration after missing Tuesday through illness.

On-loan Hull midfielder Max Clark is back from suspension, but Medy Elito (hamstring) is expected to miss out alongside Uche Ikpeazu (hamstring) and Josh Coulson (ankle).
